Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured a 160MW turbine contract from Luxcara, a German independent asset management company.

According to the agreement, Vestas will supply, install and commission 38 V150-4.2MW wind turbines across three wind power projects, including Välikangas, Pihtipudas and Sievi in Finland.

Luxcara managing partner Dr Philip Sander said: “We are very much looking forward to working together with Vestas on our Finnish portfolio.

“We are convinced that the projects will benefit from Vestas’ expertise in the Nordics and that the selected turbines will ensure the best possible use of the very good wind conditions to produce clean and sustainable energy.”

Danish wind turbine manufacturer has signed a 25-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement for wind turbines.

The company said its turbines were designed to optimise annual energy production while offering a competitive cost of energy.

Located in the Northern Ostrobothnia region, the three Finnish wind projects will have a combined energy capacity that can power more than 140,000 households with clean energy.

Vestas will deliver the turbines by the second quarter of 2021 and they will be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2021.

To reduce turbine downtime and optimise energy output, the wind projects will incorporate the VestasOnline Business SCADA solution.

Vestas Northern and Central Europe North and West sales vice-president Christer Baden Hansen said: “I would like to thank our customer Luxcara for the confidence they have shown in the capabilities of our 4MW platform and our services.

“We believe that the three projects will benefit from the V150-4.2MW turbine’s extremely competitive levelised cost of energy and its perfect fit with the site’s wind conditions.

“The order affirms the competitiveness of Vestas’ wind power solutions and that wind power provides an attractive long-term energy investment, capable of delivering beyond its climate and sustainability benefits.”

In November 2019, Vestas secured a contract from Finnish energy firm EPV Energia for the Paskoonharju II windfarm in the municipality of Teuva, Finland.
