Continuum Wind Energy subsidiary Watsun Infra has awarded a 96MW wind turbine order for Phase II of the 150MW Periyapatti windfarm in Tamil Nadu, India.

As part of the project, the facility will feature 34 of Vestas’ V100-2.0MW wind turbines, and 14 V110-2.0MW units to optimise power generation.

Alongside supply and installation of the turbines, the order also includes a VestasOnline business supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) solution and a 15-year, full-scope Active Output Management (AOM 5000) service agreement.

“Delivery of the turbines is expected to begin in Q2, while the Periyapatti windfarm is planned to be commissioned by Q3 2018.”

Once operational, the windpower facility will generate an annual power production of approximately 203MWh, which would address the total electricity requirements of almost 2.4 million urban consumers in India every year.

Continuum Energy CEO Arvind Bansal said: “Continuum is pleased to extend its cooperation with Vestas and deploy the 48 turbines equipped with advanced aeronautics.

“These 48 turbines will add to the 27 previously procured from Vestas and commissioned to build our 150MW project in Tamil Nadu.

“We are delighted to contribute in a small way to the transformative programme of Governments of India and Tamil Nadu to provide electricity to all citizens.”
