Adani Power wins MSEDCL LoA for 1.6GW power supply

The power will be generated from one of Adani's forthcoming USCTPPs.

Adani Power, a power and energy company based in India, has secured a letter of award (LoA) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) for a long-term power supply agreement (PSA) involving 1.6GW.

The power will be generated from one of Adani's forthcoming ultra-supercritical thermal power projects (USCTPPs).

This deal follows a competitive bidding process where Adani Power offered the lowest tariff at Rs5.30 ($0.05) per kilowatt-hour.

The power supply is set to begin in financial year 2030–31 (FY30–31) under the proposed 25-year agreement.

This development comes as part of Adani Power's broader efforts to secure long-term PSAs.

In FY25–26, the company secured five long-term PSA bids with a total capacity of 10.4GW.

As a result of this development, Adani Power has secured long-term PSAs for 13.3GW out of its pipeline of 23.8GW, moving closer to its goal of contracting nearly all of its capacity.

More than 95% of Adani Power's existing operational capacity of 18.15GW is committed under medium to long-term agreements, and more than 55% of its forthcoming 23.8GW of capacity is covered under 25-year agreements, ensuring stable volume and revenue visibility.

The MSEDCL contract includes pre-determined coal linkage, ensuring the security of fuel supply, and supporting cost-effective and dependable power delivery.

Adani Power CEO SB Khyalia said: “With India’s power demand continuing to rise steadily, long-term and reliable capacity addition is critical to ensure energy security.

“This LoA from MSEDCL reflects the competitiveness of Adani Power’s cost structure, our ability to deliver dependable baseload power and our commitment to supporting India’s growing electricity needs through long-term partnerships.

“As India's leading private power producer, we are keen to support Maharashtra's and the nation's ambitious development goals with reliable and affordable electricity supply.”

In August 2025, Larsen & Toubro secured a contract from Adani Power to set up eight thermal power units.
