Ampyr Solar Europe (ASE) has announced the acquisition of the East Yorkshire Solar Farm project in the UK from BOOM Power.

The project will be connected to the substation adjacent to Drax power station.

With a planned capacity of more than 530 megawatts-peak (MWp), the solar farm is expected to supply enough electricity for approximately 100,000 households.

The East Yorkshire Solar Farm secured its Development Consent Order from the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero in May 2025, classifying it as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project.

Ampyr Solar Europe aims to contribute to national climate and energy targets through this acquisition.

Project construction is expected to create job opportunities in the area and provide indirect economic benefits for local businesses.

Ampyr Solar Europe CEO Tarun Agrawal said: “We are delighted to advance our strategic growth in the UK market with the acquisition of the East Yorkshire Solar Farm project. This project is the largest in Ampyr Solar Europe’s growing photovoltaic/BESS [battery energy storage system] portfolio and aligns with our mission to deliver high-impact renewable assets that support local communities, enhance energy security and contribute to national decarbonisation objectives.

“The project underscores our continuing commitment to developing renewable assets in the UK, where ASE now has a pipeline of over 2.5GW, part of an aggregate European pipeline of 7GW across the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.”

BOOM Power founder Mark Hogan said: “Ampyr Solar Europe is well placed to take East Yorkshire Solar Farm forward into delivery, and we look forward to seeing the project make a meaningful contribution to the UK’s clean energy transition.

“BOOM Power will continue to be actively involved as the project moves into construction and subsequent energisation, planned for 2029.”
