Dutch pension fund investor APG Asset Management has committed more than A$1bn (around $650m) to Octopus Australia's renewable energy platform, OASIS.

The investment will speed up Octopus Australia's pipeline of utility-scale solar, wind and battery storage projects.

After an extensive evaluation process, APG selected Octopus Australia for its integrated development approach and its capacity to align with impact and climate objectives, the renewable energy developer said in a statement.

With this collaboration, Octopus Australia aims to further solidify its status as a key energy infrastructure manager.

Octopus Australia CEO Sam Reynolds said: “This partnership marks a transformational moment for both our business and the broader Australian energy landscape.

“To be chosen as the local partner by a global investor of APG’s calibre is a powerful endorsement of our strategy and team and is a reflection of Australia’s position as a leading destination for long-term, sustainable infrastructure investment.”

APG will join a roster of existing investors in the Octopus Australia platform, which include Australian superannuation funds such as Rest and Hostplus, international pension funds, the Australian Federal Government through the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, alongside private banks and wealth management firms.

Finalisation of this significant investment is pending approval from regulatory bodies including the Foreign Investment Review Board.

APG Asia-Pacific Infrastructure & Private Natural Capital head Hans-Martin Aerts said: “Our partnership with Octopus Australia represents a substantial opportunity to drive meaningful impact around critical climate priorities with best-in-class renewables projects that are strongly positioned to generate value for decades to come.

“We are looking forward to deepening our collaboration with Octopus Australia as we meet substantial demand for high-quality renewable energy infrastructure in key markets like Australia and support the wider energy transition needed across the world’s highest emissions regions.”

In May 2025, Octopus Australia received grid connection approval for the Blind Creek Solar Farm and Battery project.
