Cyan, LX International and Blue Water to build Dangjin wind port

The new facility will focus on marshalling activities to support both the installation and long-term operation of offshore wind projects.

Cyan Renewables, LX International and Blue Water Shipping have formalised an agreement to develop a dedicated offshore wind marshalling port in Dangjin, South Korea.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU), executed by the three companies, signals the first move to establish a port facility in the region. It will be dedicated to marshalling activities required to support the installation and ongoing operation of offshore wind projects.

The planned facility will encompass 200,000m² and include a 480m vessel berthing quay. It will also feature a 14m deep-water berth designed to accommodate the requirements of next-generation offshore wind installation and support vessels.

The port’s ground bearing capacity is specified at 10–30t/m², which is intended to provide sufficient structural support for large wind components and facilitate load-out operations.

Cyan Renewables CEO Keng Lin Lee said: “Cyan is proud to be a member of this consortium with LX International and Blue Water Shipping. As the leading offshore wind vessel owner in APAC [Asia-Pacific] with global operating experience, we bring deep offshore execution capabilities to this partnership.

“Together with LX’s infrastructure strength and Blue Water Shipping’s global logistics expertise, we will be creating an integrated ecosystem that reduces bottlenecks, strengthens supply chains and accelerates offshore wind deployment in Korea.”

Blue Water Shipping will assign experienced staff with extensive backgrounds in handling offshore wind infrastructure logistics to South Korea as part of the collaboration. These personnel are expected to work directly with local teams, transferring operational knowledge, safety standards and best practices accumulated from other markets.

This knowledge transfer is aimed at bringing the local workforce in line with international benchmarks for offshore wind marshalling operations.

Cyan Renewables has indicated that the collaboration is intended to meet both immediate installation demands and long-term operational needs within South Korea’s expanding offshore wind sector.

The parties view the MoU as a demonstration of their joint commitment to developing infrastructure designed to function as a central hub for offshore wind activity in Dangjin.

Blue Water Shipping Asia energy ports and projects regional senior vice-president Jason Goh said: “South Korea serves as a strategic entry point for offshore wind logistics projects in Asia, enabling Blue Water to deploy our proven Esbjerg marshalling port model and full-cycle logistics expertise to a new regional base.

“We anticipate this partnership will support South Korea’s planned 25GW offshore wind sector through port-ready infrastructure and efficient operations.”

The MoU with LX International and Blue Water Shipping follows Cyan Renewables’ previously announced agreement in November 2025 with Pentarch Offshore Solutions, operator of the Port of Edrom in New South Wales, Australia. That partnership is intended to strengthen Cyan Renewables’ capacity to provide complete offshore marine and energy solutions across the Australian offshore wind and decommissioning markets.

Cyan Renewables also stated that the arrangement is expected to improve efficiency across the project life cycle and value chain for clients involved in offshore wind and maritime operations in Australia.
