Brazilian power utility Eletrobras has selected C3 AI to scale enterprise AI across its operations centres.

Eletrobras is deploying C3 AI Grid Intelligence across its transmission network to transform real-time operations and accelerate grid resilience throughout Brazil.

Following a successful initial rollout at ten substations in 2024, the utility is now scaling the technology to enhance its transmission assets under the Eletro.ia programme.

The C3 AI Grid Intelligence application, built on the C3 Agentic AI Platform, provides operators with real-time contextual information, accelerates fault response, and contributes to improved grid stability and compliance.

The integration of C3 Generative AI is also streamlining operational reporting, enabling operators to prioritise more impactful tasks.

Eletrobras executive manager of protection, automation and control of operation systems Pablo Flores said: "C3 AI’s ability to support a real-time operations centre with an operations-ready platform and end-user focused solutions was core to our decision to partner with C3 AI.

"Eletrobras is modernising critical network monitoring processes, allowing us to effectively and quickly respond to incidents to ensure grid stability and availability."

The C3 AI Grid Intelligence solution is capable of detecting alarms, clustering faults and providing decision-making intelligence in under ten seconds during outages, significantly reducing response times from several minutes or even hours.

C3 AI chairman and CEO Thomas M. Siebel said global energy expansion and resilience remains a primary focus for the company.

"Our work with Eletrobras reinforces C3 AI’s position as the trusted Enterprise AI provider for critical infrastructure and highlights the power of our platform in delivering operational transformation across the global energy sector,” Siebel said.

In October 2024, Eletrobras signed a memorandum of understanding with Ocean Winds to explore offshore wind energy opportunities in Brazil.
