Elmya Energy and Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure have established a joint venture (JV), Elmantic, to bring 4GW of utility-scale renewable energy projects online in the US.

The Elmantic JV will be driven by the combined efforts of the Elmya Energy US team and the Atlantica North America team.

Elmya Energy will initially focus on greenfield development of renewable energy and battery storage projects, particularly in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas and Western Electricity Coordinating Council markets.

The company anticipates the addition of new team members in 2025 to support the activities of the Elmantic joint venture.

Elmya managing director Carlos Piñar said: “The US stands as one of the largest and most dynamic markets for energy in the world. Our formation of Elmantic during this time of resetting and growth for the US power industry underscores our conviction that renewable energy will continue to play a major role in America's expanding economy.”

Since 1966, Spain-based Elmya has grown from an electrical contractor to a global renewable energy company, connecting over 3GW of projects.

Atlantica, meanwhile, develops and manages sustainable infrastructure, including renewable energy, storage, natural gas, and transmission assets across North America, Europe, and South America.
