GE Vernova has secured a contract to supply 17 onshore wind turbines for a new project in Fortore, Benevento, Italy, with an output exceeding 100MW.

The contract was awarded to GE Vernova by renewable energy operator IVPC Group.

The project was among the largest wind farms granted in a December 2025 auction by Italy’s energy agency, Gestore dei Servizi Energetici.

Deliveries of the turbines, each with a capacity of 6.1MW and incorporating two-piece blade technology, are planned for the second quarter of 2027 (Q2 2027).

This design aims to enhance transportability and site accessibility while optimising energy generation.

GE Vernova onshore wind business in international markets chief commercial officer Gilan Sabatier said: “We are honoured to extend our collaboration with IVPC Group on the Fortore wind farm.

“The project strengthens our presence in the country and our commitment to the European energy transition, while highlighting how our 6.1MW–158m technology gives operators a competitive edge in auctions through large-scale, sustainable energy delivery.

“We look forward to continuing our strong collaboration with IVPC as we support Italy’s energy transition goals.”

Under an agreement finalised in Q4 2025, GE Vernova will deliver a tailored operations and maintenance solution.

This arrangement involves collaboration between IVPC and GE Vernova to handle transactional maintenance activities.

The new initiative builds on previous collaborations between GE Vernova and IVPC Group, notably the installation of the inaugural Cypress 6.1MW wind turbine at IVPC’s Montefalcone site.

The Montefalcone project involves repowering efforts to boost capacity and extend operational lifespan.

IVPC Group owner and president Oreste Vigorito said: “Building on the success of the Monfalcone project, we continue to choose GE Vernova for the flexibility of its service model – allowing us to lead transactional maintenance – and for its advanced split‑blade technology, which enables deployment in locations with logistical constraints.”

Globally, GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind division has installed around 59,000 turbines, equating to nearly 120GW of capacity.

In Italy, GE Vernova currently manages approximately 135MW of wind power projects and offers maintenance services through its Wind Service Team in Troia (Foggia) and other locations.

With more than a century of experience in Italy’s power sector, GE Vernova contributes to the country's energy needs, supplying roughly one-quarter of its power capacity.

In December 2025, the company signed an agreement with Greenvolt Power to supply onshore wind turbines for the Gurbanesti wind farm in Călărași county, Romania.
