Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex Group has announced its entry into Ecuador with a turbine order.

Under the contract, it is required to supply 19 N149/5.X turbines for a wind farm in southern Ecuador, totalling 112MW capacity.

The turbines, part of the Delta4000 series, will be installed on 105m-high steel tube towers.

Construction is set to commence in October 2026, with the wind farm's commissioning scheduled for March 2027.

The client and project name have not been disclosed.

The wind farm is expected to stabilise Ecuador's electricity supply, especially during the Amazon region's dry season and help in reducing power outages.

Currently, Ecuador has three wind farms with a combined capacity of 69MW.

The new facility will raise the total capacity to 181MW, strengthening the country's renewable energy base.

In March, Nordex received an order for 16 N163/5.X turbines for a wind project in Nova Scotia, Canada.

In early 2025, Umweltgerechte Kraftanlagen (UK) placed an order with the Nordex Group for 80 turbines from the Delta4000 series

To date, Nordex has installed approximately 57GW of wind power capacity across more than 40 markets. It reported sales of around €7.3bn ($8.63bn) in 2024.

The company employs over 10,400 people and operates manufacturing facilities in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India, and the US.

Nordex's product portfolio focuses on onshore turbines in the 4MW to 7MW plus range, designed for markets with limited space and grid capacity.
