Nuvve and OMNIA expand partnership with new project in Romania

This latest deal expands Nuvve’s European battery storage network, with commercial operations planned for 2026.

Nuvve Holding has expanded its partnership with OMNIA Global through a stand-alone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Braşov, Romania.

The project increases Nuvve’s announced European BESS capacity under this partnership to more than 150MW.

Developed via SPV Braşov 60, the Romanian project involves the installation of a 60MW/120 megawatt-hour (MWh) BESS and marks the third such agreement between Nuvve and OMNIA Global within two weeks.

Earlier projects include a 50MW site in Sweden and a 40MW facility in Austria.

All three assets are scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2026.

The collaboration between Nuvve and OMNIA was formalised earlier this month, providing Nuvve with access to the latter’s development pipeline.

This pipeline spans more than 700MW across 16 projects at various developmental stages in Austria, Romania and Bulgaria.

Each of the three confirmed sites has secured engineering contracts as well as site and grid access rights.

For the Braşov installation, commercial operation is expected in the final quarter of 2026.

The project targets participation in Romania’s balancing and ancillary service markets through Nuvve’s GIVe platform, which will handle grid aggregation and manage dispatch according to local market mechanisms such as FCR, aFRR and balancing services.

Nuvve retains consulting fees, a 9% grid aggregation fee on all project revenues and holds the right of first refusal for acquisition upon completion.

Nuvve Holding co-founder and CEO Gregory Poilasne said: “Three projects, three countries, more than 150MW – in under two weeks. That is the pace we committed to when we entered into the OMNIA Global cooperation agreement, and that is the pace we are delivering.

“What matters here is not just the scale – it is the economics. At $250,000–$500,000 of revenue per megawatt per year, Nuvve is building a European energy platform that generates high-margin recurring revenue from day one of operation.”

Including its existing vehicle-to-grid and battery initiatives, Nuvve now oversees an energy storage platform surpassing 150MW across multiple countries in Europe.
