Shanghai Sermatec Energy Technology has been awarded a contract for a 430+ MWh energy storage procurement project in Bulgaria.

The company will provide a comprehensive, full-lifecycle energy storage solution.

The system will optimise energy usage by charging during off-peak hours to take advantage of lower electricity costs and discharging during peak periods to supply stored energy back to the grid.

This strategy capitalises on time-of-use pricing - crucial for reducing project payback periods and enhancing overall investment returns.

The company's dual-layered technological advancement strategy involves modular design paired with durable battery technologies, alongside precise charge/discharge interval control.

These approaches guarantee stable, high-performance operation even under complex and demanding conditions, establishing a robust foundation for efficient peak-valley arbitrage and enabling consistent economic returns throughout the system's lifecycle.

The project officially commenced in August 2025 and is scheduled for completion in December, with operations commencing by March 2026.

It represents a step forward for Bulgaria's modernisation of its energy infrastructure.
