Denmark-based renewable energy inspection services provider Swire Renewable Energy has acquired Altitec Blade Services.

Altitec Blade Services is a UK-based company specialising in wind turbine rotor blade inspection, repair and maintenance.

The deal will expand Swire's capabilities in blade repair and maintenance within the renewable energy sector.

Altitec operates across countries including the UK, Germany, Australia and South Africa.

It offers services for onshore and offshore wind turbines, serving wind farm owners, turbine original equipment manufacturers and insurers.

Swire Renewable Energy CEO Ryan Smith stated: “Following the encouraging growth in our blade maintenance division in the last 12 months, we acquired Altitec to strengthen our blade technical capability, increase our operating capacity and expand our regional footprint.”

“There is significant technical and regional synergy between the two companies and the business combination will enable us to market and operate our blade, HV electrical, mechanical, pre-assembly and installation services throughout a much stronger and broader network.

“We are also very focused on developing our newly acquired business units in Africa and Australia.”

With the acquisition of Altitec, Swire will enhance its service offerings to include a full spectrum of blade services including maintenance, predictive analysis, engineering, autonomous drone inspection, annual and periodic maintenance, customised blade repair training and repair diagnostics.

Altitec Blade Services managing director Tom Dyffort stated: “Altitec has developed a strong position in the wind turbine industry since its inception and has a solid customer base and highly professional and technical blade skillset.

“We are looking forward to integrating with Swire Renewable Energy and optimising our marketing through the larger combined network, enabling us to grow and scale in both onshore and offshore blade repair services internationally.”

Following the integration, Altitec's operations will be rebranded and will function under the Swire Renewable Energy name across the group.

The deal comes soon after Swire’s acquisition of Wind Power Solutions (WPS) in Sweden in October 2023.

WPS is also a wind turbine inspection, repair and maintenance provider, with operations in Sweden, Norway and Finland.
