Taihan Cable & Solution has secured a contract to deliver and install more than 100km of inter-array submarine cables for the Anma offshore wind power project in South Korea.

The contract, valued at Won181.6bn ($131m), is planned to run until the end of 2028.

The 532MW Anma offshore wind farm is planned to be built off the west coast of the Anma archipelago in Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, South Korea.

The 83.9 million square metre project will generate an annual output of 1,400 gigawatt hours (GWh) —sufficient to supply electricity to1.4 million people per year.

Taihan will manage all aspects of the turnkey process: design, manufacturing, transportation and installation of inter-array cables that connect the turbines and link them to offshore substations.

The cables will be manufactured at Taihan’s new Dangjin submarine cable plant 1 and installed using the company's vessel PALOS - Korea’s only cable-laying vessel.

Taihan previously supplied submarine cables for domestic offshore wind projects, including Yeonggwang Nakwol and Southwest Offshore Wind.

A Taihan spokesperson stated: “Leveraging our submarine cable competitiveness built since 2009, Taihan is achieving rapid results in Korea’s offshore wind segment. By consistently strengthening our turnkey capabilities, we aim to contribute to supply chain stability for Korea’s offshore wind expansion and the West Coast Energy Highway, while also enhancing export competitiveness as we actively join growing offshore wind projects in Europe and Asia.”

South Korea’s Taihan is strengthening its production and installation capacity to meet increasing domestic and international demand. A second submarine cable facility capable of producing high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cables is expected to start operations in 2027.

Taihan Cable & Solution was among the HVDC cable suppliers selected by British multinational electricity and gas utility company National Grid in early 2025 for a £59bn ($76.3bn) HVDC supply chain framework to enhance energy infrastructure in the UK.
