Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company, has signed an agreement with Suzlon Group for the supply of wind turbines totalling 838MW capacity in India.

This marks the largest order for Suzlon Group for fiscal year 2026 as part of its Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project, reported Business Standard

This order is said to be Suzlon's second largest to date, coming after the 1,544MW order from NTPC Green Energy.

The 838MW project will feature 266 of S144 wind turbines from Suzlon, each with a capacity of 3.15MW.

It is part of the FDRE contracts awarded to SJVN and NTPC.

The turbines will be deployed across TPREL’s projects in multiple states, scheduled for completion over the next few years.

These turbines will be distributed across the Indian states of Karnataka (302MW), Maharashtra (271MW), and Tamil Nadu (265MW).

This collaboration strengthens TPREL's role in India's renewable energy transition. The country aims to achieve 500GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

TPREL is also focused on expanding its wind-led clean energy projects.

Currently, TPREL manages a wind energy portfolio of more than 3.9GW, including over 1GW in operation.

The remaining capacity is under development in states, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.

The agreement marks the third strategic tie-up between TPREL and Suzlon.

It aligns with Tata Power's goal of achieving 100% clean energy by 2045 and adds to its growing renewable energy portfolio of 15.7GW.

Suzlon Group is a global renewable energy solutions provider with more than 21GW of wind energy capacity installed across 17 countries.

The company has in-house research and development centres in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and India, along with manufacturing facilities across India.

In April, Tata Power Renewable Energy and Tata Motors announced a partnership to develop a 131MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project.
