Renewable energy company Zelestra has awarded a contract to Suzlon for 381MW of wind power capacity in three states of India.

Suzlon will supply 127 of its S144 turbines, distributed across Maharashtra (180MW), Madhya Pradesh (180MW) and Tamil Nadu (21MW).

The agreement is part of Zelestra's growth strategy, which includes the commencement of construction for 480MW of wind, 1.45GW of solar and 150 megawatt hours (MWh) of battery energy storage capacity in India in 2025.

The portfolio includes the firm and dispatchable renewable energy contract, announced in March 2025, with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam.

This project in Solapur, Maharashtra will unify solar, wind and energy storage technologies, with operations expected by 2027.

Zelestra India CEO Sajay KV stated: “This partnership with Suzlon marks a significant step in our vision to deliver even more ambitious and complex multi-technology renewable energy solutions for our customers across India. It sets the foundation for delivering our portfolio of 5GW, from our strategically sited and uniquely co-located hybrid projects with Interconnection certainty of 2027 and 2028.”

Suzlon Group vice-chairman Girish Tanti stated: “India’s energy transition landscape is at a pivotal juncture, where the pursuit of reliable, round-the-clock renewable power is taking centre stage. This project marks that critical shift. We are honored to collaborate with Zelestra, a global pioneer in decarbonisation, as we collectively propel India towards a sustainable energy future. At Suzlon, we’re committed to driving this transition forward, one innovative project at a time.”

Zelestra’s clean energy pipeline in India currently exceeds 5.4GW across seven states.

In July 2025, Zelestra secured an additional €235m ($277m) for its sustainability-linked loan, bringing the total to €770m ($907m).
