The planned maintenance outage at Armenia‘s nuclear power plant has been adjourned until July due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Nuclear Safety Committee chairman of Ashot Martirosyan told NEI that the conclusion of agreements on the supply of essential equipment and materials has been complicated due to borders closures. The Metsamor plant will be taken offline to perform planned maintenance and life extension work, Martirosyan added.

French nuclear regulator has said that it was not aware of fresh delays in the construction of EDF’s Flamanville 3 EPR nuclear reactor in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic slowing construction works. At a French Senate hearing, ASN’s chief Bernard Doroszczuk said that some hundreds of welds, and eight other difficult-to-reach enclosure crossing welds, are still anticipated to be redone before the reactor is commissioned.

The US administration has offered onshore wind and solar projects more time to meet tax credit deadlines in the wake of the crisis created by the coronavirus lockdown. A notice issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) says that wind projects which began in 2016 or 2017 have until the end of 2021, to bring their projects online and be eligible for a tax credit for every kilowatt-hour of electricity produced.

India has called for a pre-bid meeting on 5 June for its ambitious global solar power grid programme in spite of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy will be assessing proposals and selecting the companies. Interested consulting firms are required to submit their proposals together with financial and technical proposals through online by 15 June.
