Fotowatio Renewable Ventures has wrapped up construction of the 69.75MW Goonumbla Solar Farm in New South Wales, Australia. The plant, located about 280km northwest of Sydney, is now connected to the national grid. It will generate approximately 195GWh of clean energy per year.
The Salt River Project has recommenced decommissioning and demolition work at its retired 2.25GW Navajo coal-fired plant in Arizona. The work was suspended nearly four months ago due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. At that time Independence Excavating, the contractor in charge of the demolition work, demolished the Unit 3 absorber pumphouse and the ten-story high limestone prep conveyor, Power Engineering reported.
Solar Plus Development and Avondale Solar have finalised an agreement to develop a 400MW AC solar photovoltaic project with J-POWER USA Development in Refugio County, part of Texas in the US. The Charger Solar project will break ground in the second half of next year, and be operational by the summer of 2023.
German state-owned development bank KfW has agreed to offer a low-interest loan of $80m (Rs6bn) for the first phase of a 125MW solar power plant in the Indian state of West Bengal. The project will be located in the Purba Medinipur district of the state. The 15-year loan, which carries an interest rate of 0.15%, will cover 80% cost of the overall solar project.
