The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Latin American Energy Organization have teamed up to explore uses of renewable energy in reviving the economy of Latin America and the Caribbean, as region battles the Covid-19 pandemic. The organisations expect that accelerating the renewable drive to renewable energy could create more than three million jobs across the region by 2050. The acceleration could also offer economic returns of $3 to $8 dollars for every dollar invested.

Duke Energy has reported scams targeting its customers are on the rise, with more than 4,000 customers targeted during June this year. The company said scammers promise to mail customers refund checks for over-payments on their accounts if they can confirm their personal data, such as birthdays and social security numbers.

Italy-based Enel Green Power has forged a long-term, joint investment partnership with Norfund to finance, build and operate new renewable projects in India. As per the agreement, each project will be co-funded and governed by both partners. Enel Green Power will be responsible for the development and construction of the projects.

Iberdrola has received €800 million in financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) to develop new renewable energy capacity in Spain. The Spanish energy company will receive $680m (€600m) and $227m (€200m) from EIB and ICO respectively, funding the construction of over 20 projects with total capacity over 2GW.
