The National Solar Energy Federation of India has urged the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to extend the timelines of projects that are under construction. The federation suggests extending current dates until 30 November 2020. According to the federation, labour migration, an increase in Covid-19 cases, and transport restrictions are impacting construction work. Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Asia’s largest solar power project, Rewa Solar, in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Turkey-based energy and construction firm Enka has signed an agreement with Russia-based JSC Tatenergo for the construction of a $360m combined cycle power plant in Tatarstan. Enka expects operations to begin on 30 November 2023. Once operational, the plant will have an output capacity of 858MW, at 64.7% efficiency.

Jacobs has been chosen by Hanwha Energy Corporation to deliver engineering services to support all aspects of building a new 100MW AC solar photovoltaic power plant in Pekan, Pahang, Malaysia. Once the project is completed, the plant will link to the electricity transmission system operated by utility provider Tenaga Nasional. The project will commence operation in 2021.
