The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is considering restarting several large projects in Massena and Potsdam that were halted because of coronavirus concerns. In a press release NYPA said: “Employees are surveyed daily for wellness and are asked to stay home if they are displaying signs of illness. Health checks require both NYPA employees and contractors to answer questions regarding themselves and their families, related to physical symptoms associated with Covid. Depending on the work situation, additional personal protective equipment will be worn as warranted for the health and safety of its workers, customers and the general public.”

Japanese power generator JERA has reached an agreement with French investment firm ADEME Investissement and French floating wind technology supplier Ideol to set up a floating wind farm joint venture. The venture’s project will have a minimum capacity of 2GW and will leverage Ideol’s technology. The companies expect to reach a final deal by the end of this year.
Canada-based Hydro-Québec has said it will not pay out incentive compensation to employees this year as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The company, which has already cancelled a salary hike, will invest a total of $20.6m (C$28m) to give a boost to the Québec economy.
India’s Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) has closed six of its eight power generation plants in the state of Karnataka. The Covid-19 situation has caused a decline inpower demand making them unnecessary. A total of 1,470MW of power is generated by units 1 to 7, while unit 8 produces 250MW of power.
