The number of confirmed positive cases of number of COVID-19 cases surpassed 1.85 million globally with a death toll of more than 110,000 people, bringing many countries around the world to a complete lock-down.
The global trends suggest that the maximum number of new infections and new deaths are reported from the US and the 5EU countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK).
The US is particularly hard hit. The death toll in the US surpassed to that of Italy with 22,109 cases versus 19,899 cases; the number of cases in New York is now higher than any other country.
In the 5EU, most of the deaths occurred in Italy followed by Spain (17,209 cases), France (14,412 cases), the UK (10,629 cases), and Germany (3,022 cases). However, we may be reaching the peak of the outbreak in these markets.
GlobalData epidemiologists observed initial hints of flattening of the epidemiological curve in the US, and much more pronounced improvements in Italy and Spain.
France and the UK may be hitting the peak soon.
