Westinghouse Electric Company will build two new buildings for Axpo AG’s 730MW two-unit, Beznau Nuclear Power Plant in Dottingen, Switzerland for €130m ($172m).
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract includes four diesel generator sets with sub-systems, switch gears and transformers, HVAC systems, fire-protection systems and related digital safety and non-safety instrumentation and control systems.
Each of the four diesel generators will provide 3MW emergency power to one of the emergency power trains of Beznau Units 1 and 2.
Preliminary work is expected to be completed during the Beznau Unit 1 spring 2014 and Beznau unit 2 fall 2014 outages.
