Swedish electricity producer Vattenfall AB has begun work on a £800m Thanet offshore wind farm, off England’s north Kent coast.
The 100 turbine wind farm will provide electricity to power around 240,000 homes.
The project will also create around 200 local jobs, according to Vattenfall.
After completion, the Thanet offshore wind farm will cover 13.5 square miles off the county’s coast.
State-owned Vattenfall currently has operations in Denmark, Finland, Germany, the UK, Poland and Sweden.
