A consortium led by Greek engineering company Metka has been awarded a contract to build a combined cycle gas turbine plant in Greece (CCGT).

The project to build the 811MW Megalopolis V CCGT unit
is being developed by the Public Power Corporation of Greece (DEI).

The consortium was awarded the contract after it agreed to terms previously set by the DEI board on 25 August.

The DEI board has also authorised the commencement of the tendering process for a €350m Cyclades Interconnection Project.

The project aims to provide a secure power supply to the Syros, Paros, Naxos and Mykonos islands and improve the quality of supplied energy.
