Belgium power grid operator Elia is in talks to finance the acquisition of the German grid owned by Vatenfall.

Elia could launch a capital increase of €300m to €500m ($426.1m to $710.2m), according to Belgian newspaper De Tijd.

Vattenfall owns national grids in Eastern Germany and the Hamburg region.

Elia operates the 380kV to 30kV high voltage grid in Belgium.
