Conduit Capital Partners has announced the start of commercial operations for a 66MW heavy fuel oil power plant in Kingston, Jamaica.
The West Kingston Power Project was financed by a consortium of lenders, including the Andean Region Financial Institution, the German Development Finance Institution, the International Finance Corporation and the Bank of Nova Scotia.
Conduit partner Eyob Easwaran said it was the third power plant in Conduit’s generation portfolio in Jamaica, bringing the total of operating and contracted capacity to 190MW.
Finland-based Wartsila delivered the project under an engineering, procurement and construction contract, which started in the first quarter of 2011.
The power plant will sell energy under a 20-year power purchase agreement with Jamaica Public Service Company.
“This further demonstrates Conduit’s continued confidence in the Jamaican market, its project company staff and the client,” said Easwaran.
