Wind Power

Tauron Polska Energia has inaugurated the 82MW Marszewo wind farm project in Postomino municipality, Slawno County, on the east end of West Pomerania Province, Poland.

Located in Marszewo, the project features 41 2MW Vestas wind turbines with the height of the towers ranging between 60m and 100m.

In March 2012, Vestas Wind Systems won the contract from Iberdrola Engineering and Construction Poland, on behalf of Tauron, to supply 22 units of the V80-2.0MW wind turbine and 19 units of the V90-2.0MW wind turbine for the plant.

The contract also included installation and commissioning of the turbines, a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution as well as a three-year service and maintenance agreement (AOM 4000).

The project is expected to generate 184GWh of clean energy annually, which is enough electricity to power around 80,000 households.

Earlier Tauron had awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract valued at PLN632m (€151.4m) including a three-year warranty service to a consortium of Iberdrola and Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion.

The wind farm development is part of the company’s corporate investment strategy to have a renewable energy portfolio of around 800MW by 2020.

TAURON Ekoenergia CEO Malgorzata Wojcik-Stasiak said that the company, which completed the project according to schedule, has secured approval to generate electricity on 6 September 2013.

“The Marszewo farm is the third – next to 30.75MW Lipniki and 30MW Zagorze – wind farm of TAURON Ekoenergia. In the nearest future, yet another wind farm will be added to our generation portfolio – 40MW Wicko, which will give us the total of 182.75MW wind-based installed capacity,” said Stasiak.

In addition to wind project development, the company, as part of the investment, has also built Main Electricity Offtake Marszewo and a 110kV line connecting it with 400/110kV Wierzbiecino station near Slupsk.
