Global wind turbine manufacturer Senvion has secured a 250MW conditional order from India’s SPV of Continuum Wind Energy.

As per the terms of the agreement, Senvion will be responsible for a supply of 108 Senvion 2.3M130 turbines as well as commissioning of the Bhuj wind farm located in the Gujarat state in north-west India.

"We emphasise our claim to support India’s ambitious goal to achieve an installed capacity of 175GW of renewable energy sources till 2022."

Senvion executive director and CSO David Hardy said: “This order illustrates our intent to provide optimised technological solutions for our customers and reflects our ambition to establish Senvion as a trusted local partner in key countries, such as India.

“We want to thank Continuum for our close cooperation and the order of our 2.3M130 in India. This is a milestone for us and shows that technological pioneering and strong partnerships are key for succeeding in highly competitive markets.”

Additionally, the agreement includes a 20-year comprehensive operations and maintenance (O&M) contract.

Continuum Wind Energy has already secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Bhuj wind project in the round 4 bidding from the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy owned company Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
