Renewable energy sources in Poland have reached a capacity of 10GW of power with solar power being the fastest developing green energy, the Polish Climate Ministry has said in a press release.

Deputy Climate Minister Ireneusz Zyska said that “the power of photovoltaic installations in Poland has grown by over 1600%” from December 2015 until today, despite recent disruption from the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Such dynamic development of micro-installations is possible, in large measure, thanks to the so-called rebate system, the energy settlement system dedicated to energy producers (prosumers) functioning in Poland, which enables the prosumer to use the electrical network as a sort of ‘energy warehouse’. The surplus can be used by the producer for 365 days,” Zyska added.
