South and Central America power industry tenders in September 2020: Bolivia leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Bolivia led the activity in September 2020 with 15 tenders and a share of 48.4%, up 9% over the previous month and up 400% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Trinidad and Tobago with six tenders and a share of 19.4% and Brazil with four tenders and a share of 12.9% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Bolivia held the top spot with three tenders, followed by Uruguay with two and Trinidad and Tobago with one tender.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in September 2020

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with six tenders and a 46.2% share, followed by wind with four tenders and a 30.8% share and hydro with two tenders and a 15.4% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in South and Central America as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in September 2020, with 15 tenders, followed by T&D Project (7) and Electricity Procurement (4).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 16 tenders and a 51.6% share
  2. Project Implementation: nine tenders and a 29% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: four tenders and a 12.9% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 3.2% share
