The project is developed and owned by Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad. The company has a stake of 100%.

Reventazon is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 118 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project is 133.4m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 4 in number. The project generated 1,400 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $1,400m.

Contractors Involved

Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad was selected to render EPC services for the hydro power project.

Andritz Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 4 units of francis turbines, each with 74MW nameplate capacity.

Andritz Hydro supplied 4 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 86.2 MVA.
