Energy services provider Alpiq has secured a CHF44m ($43.5m) contract from Heitkamp and Ballast Nedam construction consortium to build a technology for a new wind turbine production facility in Cuxhaven, Germany.

The contract includes planning and implementation of the building technology equipment, which comprises the installation of the sanitary facilities, heating, ventilation, electrical engineering, elevator systems, and sprinklers.

The new production facility is expected to start production in mid-2017. Within the new building, Siemens will connect generators, hubs, and back-ends to assemble nacelles for offshore wind turbines.
