Works on the Moray West facility are expected to begin in 2024.

Seaway 7 said it will use its advanced cable lay vessels for the project.

Once finalised, Moray West will be one of the most significant contracts secured by Subsea 7.

The company added that the contract will not be recognised until the financial close for the project has been reached.

The project is expected to reach financial close in the coming months and generate its first power in 2024.

Seaway 7’s Aberdeen office will be responsible for the execution of the contract scope.

Located on Scotland’s east coast in the Moray firth, the Moray West offshore wind farm will be equipped with 60 wind turbines.

The offshore wind project also recently received a contract for difference (CfD) in the UK Government’s CfD allocation round.

In March last year, Subsea 7 entered a joint venture with Simply Blue Energy to develop the 200MW Salamander wind farm offshore from Scotland’s north-east coast.

Under this JV, Simply Blue Energy has agreed to offer its expertise in floating wind development in the Celtic Sea, while Subsea 7 will provide its knowledge of delivering offshore energy projects.

The two companies will also seek a strategic investor to support the project’s execution as its concept develops.
