DIKAR Product Data Management, established in 1998, offers companies in the power industry a range of resources and services in plant and product data management, configuration management, KKS coding and documentation control, and related software system implementations.

Power plant product lifecycle management systems

Product lifecycle management (PLM) is the process of managing the entire lifecycle of a product (plant), from conception, to design and manufacture, to service and disposal, by integrating people, data, processes and business systems. PLM also provides a product information backbone for all activities related to the product (plant).

DIKAR has implemented the core PLM system at the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor (PBMR) Company and is involved with the rollout to other parties and integration with the plant delivery systems.

Power plant configuration management

Configuration management (CM) aims to establish and maintain consistency of a system’s or product’s performance and its functional and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information throughout its life.

DIKAR implements product lifecycle management systems for its client in the power industry.
DIKAR resources were also involved from the very start of the configuration management discipline in South Africa.
DIKAR also provides information management services.
DIKAR provides KKS coding and documentation control for a range of clients in the power industry.

DIKAR is involved with software tools and CM and system engineering processes and procedures. We have established CM and a documentation management system at the CAMDEN RTS project, the Atlantis and Gourikwa gas turbine stations, Medupi coal-fired power station and the Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme. DIKAR resources were also involved from the very start of the CM discipline in South Africa and established the core processes and procedures at one of the leading aerospace and defence contractors in South Africa.

Information management for power plants

DIKAR was contracted to support the PBMR Eskom client office in the CM and information management (IM) disciplines. We have also established a strong base and experience in the support of the open cycle gas turbine (OCGT) project and the current GAS1 project (gas turbine peak load power stations).

We are actively involved in the Eskom engineering department’s project to reestablish relevant engineering processes and procedures.

We are contracted to support the Medupi PS engineering team (new coal-fired power station) and we have been part of the first team in South Africa to implement the SAP r3 (an enterprise-wide information system designed to coordinate all the resources, information, and activities needed to complete business processes) DMS and PM modules.

KKS coding and documentation control

Kraftwerk-Kennzeichensystem (KKS) literally means ‘power plant classification system’. It is a standardised system for the classification of power stations through the application of structured codification based on the functions of the systems for the power plant. DIKAR provides KKS coding and documentation control for a range of clients in the power industry.

Product data management in the power industry

DIKAR offers plant and product data management services to clients in the power industry. DIKAR has implemented the eB product data management (PDM) system at IST and still supports this system at what is now IST Powertech, and at Westinghouse.

The above-mentioned projects are just a sample of the work that DIKAR has successfully completed. Contact DIKAR or visit their website for more information about work already completed and how DIKAR can use its experience and expertise on your project.
