Babcock Power Inc. (BPI), based in Danvers, MA, announced today that Mike D. LeClair has been selected by the company’s board of directors to serve as the new president and chief executive officer of Babcock Power, effective 22 June, 2009. He succeeds Jim Wood, who after seven years leading Babcock Power as president and CEO, and more than 40 years in the power industry, will retire from his current responsibilities.

Through Jim’s diligent efforts, BPI has achieved year on year double digit growth and has grown to approximately a billion dollars in sales. Jim provided the guidance to re-capitalise the company in 2002 and brought together the personnel and skills necessary to build BPI into a major competitor in the global power market. As such, we are pleased that Jim will continue as a BPI board member and we look forward to his continued contributions and counsel.

Mike LeClair has been with BPI since its founding and has been an integral part of the executive management team. He started with Vogt Power in 1999 as VP of Engineering, was promoted to COO of Vogt in 2002 and for the past three years has held the position of its president and CEO. Mike has more than twenty-three years of experience in the power industry holding a variety of positions with Combustion Engineering/ABB, Tampella/Steinmüller and Kvaerner.

Jim Wood said: “In just three years, Mike and his team have transformed Vogt Power from a small business segment to one of BPI’s largest and best performing, with record results, and under Mike’s leadership we look forward to the continued growth and success of Babcock Power.”
