Vogt Power International, located in Louisville, KY, a subsidiary of Babcock Power, based in Danvers, MA, has announced it will supply the heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) to Siemens Energy for Imperial Irrigation District’s (IID) El Centro power plant, located in El Centro, CA.

Phase two of El Centro unit 3 repower project will convert the power plant from a conventional steam-cycle system to a combined-cycle system, increasing its generating capacity from 44MW to 144MW. The existing equipment will be replaced with two Siemens SGT-800 combustion turbine generators, two Vogt Power auxiliary fired, two pressure level HRSGs, with carbon monoxide (CO) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems, and external deareator and a Siemens SST-600 steam turbine generator. The new equipment is expected to increase fuel efficiency by 50%, primarily by capturing exhaust and converting water into steam.

“We look forward to supplying our HRSGs to Siemens for this project. This application of our products is just one of many ways we assist customers in providing clean, highly-efficient power,” stated Steve Kapsalis, president and CEO, Vogt Power International.
