Oil mist separators from FRANKE-Filter have received the ASME IX welding certification, which is the most important regulation for the welding technology of pressure vessels and steam boilers in the American market.

The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code is a worldwide standard for the construction, manufacture and testing of pressure vessels and pressurised components. It is published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and functions as a benchmark for safety and quality in the US and the Canadian market, as well as the Middle East.

In cooperation with TÜV Nord (a German service provider), FRANKE-Filter introduced a new welding process according to ASME. In the final test, an additional load test was carried out and successfully passed. FRANKE-Filter is now authorised to weld fillet and butt weld for stainless and carbon steel for their oil mist separators as per ASME IX.

FRANKE-Filter technical director Carsten Schmieding said: “With an ASME-compliant manufacturing process, we are now able to work with many more industries that need powerful oil mist separators. We are one of the first companies to produce oil mist separators certified to ASME.”
