Application/Situation

Fujairah F3 the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) newest power plant to be constructed is to be built on the same site as the existing Fujairah F1 and F2 water power plants.

With commissioning expected to commence sometime in 2023 and power generation expected to start in 2022, it will become the UAE’s largest power station, generating up to 2,400MW of electricity, enough to power roughly 400,000 homes.

Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction successfully gained the contract for Unit Ten and 20 for the station. Wanting to provide a bolting solution to be used on the turbine, Pilgrim were contacted to propose a solution and bid on the project.

Solution

In April 2021, following months of negotiations and design work, Pilgrim and Doosan signed contracts for the supply of 96 off Radial Fit Bolts (Ø70, 72, 76 and 82mm)  including two dual bolt tensioning kits and Pilgrim’s Mk12 Air Driven Hydraulic Pump.

This represents Pilgrim’s first order for a UAE Power Plant.

Benefits

  • Guaranteed and speedy installation/removal of the coupling bolts supporting successful outages.
  • A bolting solution that’s totally reusable.
  • Eradication of stuck bolts increasing predictability
