Maintain Bolt Preload on Electrical Connections Using Belleville Springs

By Solon Manufacturing Company

Belleville springs counteract the effects of differential thermal expansion, keeping your power plant or any facility safer.

Belleville springs, commonly used on electrical connections, are made out of materials which reduce differential thermal expansion, thus reducing 'hot spots'. 'Hot spots' are produced at bolted electrical joints when there is more heat generated by current passing through the joint than can be effectively dissipated. This can result in catastrophic failure of the joint.
