Australia’s power industry registered a 12.2% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 9.85% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.14% share in July 2022, recording an increase of 0.43% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Australia’s power industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 93.88% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s power industry in July 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 32.65% in July 2022, registering a 14.29% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 22.45% share, an increase of 22.22% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 16.33%, registering a 14.29% rise from June 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 16.33%, down 11.11% over the previous month.

Top five power companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 75% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s power industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

Origin Energy posted 11 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a rise of 175% over the previous month, followed by CLP Holdings with 9 jobs and a 200% growth. AGL Energy with 7 IT jobs and Hanwha Q Cells with 4 jobs, recorded a 133.33% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Clearway Energy recorded a decline of 60% with 4 job postings during July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.35%, up by 37.5% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with an 18.37% share, registered a decline of 40% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.29% share, up 133.33% over June 2022.
