Australia’s power industry registered an 8.8% rise in IT hiring activity in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 14.85% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 16.67% share in January 2022, recording a decrease of 0.67% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 85.53% in January 2022, registering a 75.68% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 11.84% share, an increase of 350% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 2.63%, registering a 100% rise from December 2022.

 

Top five power companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 91.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s power industry during January 2022 over December 2022.

Snowy Hydro posted 49 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered a rise of 133.33% over the previous month, followed by Origin Energy with 8 jobs and a 60% growth. Siemens with 5 IT jobs and AGL Energy with 4 jobs, recorded a 25% growth and a 20% decrease, respectively, while Stanwell recorded an increase of 200% with 3 job postings during January 2022.

Entry Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Entry Level jobs held a share of 61.84%, up by 95.83% from December 2022. Junior Level positions with a 34.21% share, registered an increase of 73.33% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 3.95% share, down 66.67% over December 2022.
