The project is currently owned by Mercury NZ.
Aratiatia is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 0.8 million cubic meter. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 3 in number. Aratiatia underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2018. The project generated 331 GWh of electricity.
The hydro power project consists of 3 turbines, each with 31MW nameplate capacity.
The project has 3 electric generators installed at the site.
