Greenvolt Power, part of Greenvolt Group, has agreed to divest two completed battery storage projects in north-eastern Poland, totalling 400MW/1.6GWh, to Malta-based investment vehicle A&R Investments.

The assets comprise the stand-alone Ełk and Turośń Kościelna battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.

Each project has 200MW of power capacity and 800MWh of energy storage capacity, allowing it to discharge at full power for approximately four hours.

Greenvolt Power expects to complete the transaction by the end of 2026, provided all customary conditions are met.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

A&R Investments director Christian Buhagiar said: “These projects represent an important addition to our portfolio and an opportunity to invest in large-scale battery storage assets in Poland.

“Their scale and role in providing flexibility to the electricity system make them valuable assets in a market where storage is becoming increasingly important.”

The Ełk and Turośń BESS facilities were completed in the third quarter of 2026 and have secured the necessary permits for operation.

The assets have each obtained 17-year capacity market contracts starting in 2028, under which they will receive fixed payments for making 85% of their rated capacity available to the national electricity system.

Additionally, the facilities are supported by a ten-year tolling agreement designed to optimise battery operations and the trading of their flexibility in power markets.

The BESS projects aim to provide additional flexibility to Poland’s electricity system, supporting the integration of renewable energy.

The sale forms part of Greenvolt Power’s asset-rotation strategy, under which it aims to sell between 70% and 80% of the projects it develops internally, unlocking value from development activities and reinvesting capital in new opportunities.

Greenvolt Power CEO Weronika Nowak said: “Ełk and Turośń demonstrate Greenvolt Power’s ability to take complex, large-scale battery storage projects from development to completion.

“Poland is a strategic market for us and a key driver of our growth in Central Europe, where we will continue to deliver projects that meet the evolving needs of the energy system.”

Greenvolt Power currently has a pipeline of approximately 4.6GW of BESS projects across its markets.

In August 2026, the company obtained €218m in financing from UniCredit to support its BESS projects at Ełk and Turośń.
