Arnot Power Station is a 2,100MW coal fired power project. It is located in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The project is currently active. It has been developed in multiple phases. The project construction commenced in 1968 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in May 1971.

Description

The project is currently owned by Eskom Holdings SOC.

It is a steam turbine power plant that is used for Baseload. The fuel is procured from Arnot Colliery – Amcoal.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 1968 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in May 1971.

Contractors Involved

GE Power was selected as the turbine supplier for thermal power project. The project consists of 6 units of Reaction-Impulse turbines, each with 350MW nameplate capacity.
