Description

The project was developed by NewPage and Nova Scotia Power. The project is currently owned by Nova Scotia Power with a stake of 100%.

The project generates 400GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 50,000 households. The project cost is $183m.

Cape Breton Island Biomass Power Plant is a combined heat and power (CHP) project. Wood waste which is a kind of wood by-product is used as a feedstock to power the project.
