Power industry tenders in Q1 2022: North America leads global activity
On comparing tenders activity in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 175 tenders and a share of 30.1% during Q1 2022, followed by Asia-Pacific with 159 tenders and a 27.4% share and Europe with 131 tenders and a 22.5% share.
In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with 88 tenders and a 15.1% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with 28 tenders and a 4.8% share.
On the basis of the last four-quarter average, North America held a lead over others with 694 tenders, followed by Middle East and Africa with 552.

Solar tops by technology in Q1 2022
Looking at tenders by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 82 tenders and a 44.3% share, followed by thermal with 74 tenders and a 40% share and wind with 11 tenders and a 5.9% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in global power tenders activity during Q1 2022, with 254 tenders, followed by T&D Project (113) and Generation Equipment (79).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 347 tenders and a 59.7% share
- Project Implementation: 130 tenders and a 22.4% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 50 tenders and an 8.6% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 30 tenders and a 5.2% share
- Electricity Supply: 20 tenders and a 3.4% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: three tenders and a 0.5% share
- Others: one tender and a 0.2% share.
Power tenders in Q1 2022: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Bundesnetzagentur (Germany): 10,700MW from 15 tenders
- Philippines Department of Energy (Philippines) and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam: 2,000MW from one tender
- Indiana Michigan Power (United States): 1,300MW capacity from one tender.
