Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by Tanzania Electric Supply.

Kakono is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 1,900 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project will be 70m. The project is expected to generate 573 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $379.4m.

The hydro power project consists of 2 units of kaplan turbines.
