Nordex Group has secured an order to manufacture 11 N90/2500 turbines for Brookfield Renewable's Slievecallan East windpower project in the Republic of Ireland. 

Named after the nearby Mount Slievecallan, the project is expected to start operation with a nominal output of 27.5MW at the end of 2017.

Brookfield Renewable's Irish operation general manager George Martin said: “Brookfield Renewable is delighted to team with Nordex on Slievecallan. This is an important project for Brookfield and sees a continuation of the company’s investment in Ireland.”

Nordex will deliver wind turbines with 80m tubular steel towers. It is also responsible for foundation work and 15 years of maintenance services.

Brookfield Renewable is a publicly traded power firm with a portfolio comprising hydroelectric and wind facilities across North America, Latin America, and Europe. It has a total capacity of more than 10,000MW.

In the Republic of Ireland, Brookfield owns and operates more than 200MW of Nordex turbines.
