T&D project contracts down 17% in August 2021

T&D project contracts in August 2021 saw 30 contracts announced, marking a drop of 17% over the last 12-month average of 36, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 20 contracts and a 66.7% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: nine contracts and a 30% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 3.3% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D project activity in August 2021

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 12 contracts and a share of 40% during August 2021, followed by Middle East and Africa with nine contracts and a 30% share and Europe with five contracts and a 16.7% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D project contracts in August 2021

Among the technologies, wind accounted for seven contracts with a 46.7% share, followed by solar with four contracts and a 26.7% share and thermal with three contracts and a 20% share.

T&D project contracts in August 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Wuling Power (China): 66MW from one contract
  2. Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Ecuador (Ecuador): 14.8MW from one contract
  3. Ministry of Natural Resources, Suriname: 4.16MW capacity from one contract.

T&D project contracts in August 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Orbital Solar Services (United States): 132.2MW from one contract
  2. Shanghai Electric Power Construction (China): 66MW from one contract
  3. Total Eren (France) and Grupo Gransolar (Spain): 14.8MW capacity from one contract.
